Right at the end of the year, I decided to listen in a couple of different ways this evening. One was to use the Tecsun PL-600, coupled to my outside antenna, and the other was to stick to the low bands to see what I could dig out. My external antenna is only 15 metres long so this presents a bit of a challenge, but it was interesting. The best ‘catch’ was Radio Gaucha which I managed to dig out from under CRI using the excellent narrow filter on the 600. Even though the FRG-7 is my main receiver, I probably wouldn’t have been able to copy this station with it as it has a wide-open 6 Khz filter. The thing that amazes me about the Tecsun receiver is the amount of technology in such a small package and all available for under 60 quid. I am seriously looking at the Tecsun PL-880 to use as a main receiver and replace the Frog. Unless I can pick up a decent second-hand Icom or Kenwood for a similar price.
Anyway, here are the logs.
